In December 2007, While driving around the local Reno area, looking for a christmas display that was advertised in the paper, I saw my first display that was run with a Mr. Christmas. I thought that was cool. We continued riding around and saw several other nice displays. All were good. Nothing to write home about when all of a sudden I stumbled across my first computer controlled christmas light display.
I have to say that I was hooked. I had never seen anything like it. Everyone in the car was so exited that all the cell phones were out etc. trying to capture the magic. I immediately had to find out how to do this and started looking over the web trying to learn more. Well, I did finally find a path to allow me to get here. Unfortunately, in my haste to research I forgot to grab the videos people had shot that night. The need to document this life changing event was obviously all mine. This lousy still photo from a cell phone is all I have left to document the amazing display that started me down this path that night. I say lousy because it just doesn't do the display justice. As you look at it imagine that this shot only captures a mere moment in time of the sequencing as these lights are flashing,... dancing if you will to the music. Now imagine that from this angle the camera only allows you to see about half of the display. Coupled together this means that out of all the lights you get to see "on" in this one picture, you're only seeing one quarter or less of the magic that made this display so wonderful. To the family responsible, should you stumble onto this site, I say thankyou! and a resounding OMG!!! Just look what you've started!
This post will have to do for now. Check back from time to time as I'll be sure to post more of my journey to Christmas in Reno!
